Federal preparation · A shared guide
Executives and Founders Facing a Federal Investigation
A company’s history is not the same as an individual’s history. Prepare a documented account of actual responsibilities, decisions and personal circumstances.

Separate the individual and the organization
Identify the person’s roles, dates of service, actual responsibilities and available supporting records. Ownership, title, signature authority and operational involvement are different facts.
Counsel should determine individual and company representation, authorized communications and any conflicts. SAG does not assume that company counsel represents every executive or employee.
Build a role chronology
Map changes in responsibilities over time. Identify who held relevant functions, what information was available and the source for each entry. Distinguish contemporaneous records from later recollection.
Board materials, employment agreements and dated communications may help explain the chronology, but they do not automatically establish a legal conclusion. Counsel directs collection and assesses significance.
Preserve communications and record context
Keep original materials intact. A short excerpt can be misleading without its date, recipients, attachments or surrounding exchange. An index should identify the full source and any unresolved context.
Do not coordinate accounts with colleagues, revise old records or use a personal narrative to fill evidentiary gaps. A preparation file should make uncertainty visible rather than replace it with confident language.
Document corrective work as completed work
If governance, compliance, supervision or professional support has changed, identify the action, date, responsible person and evidence of operation. Separate proposals and announcements from steps actually implemented.
A new policy does not prove that every problem is resolved. Counsel and appropriate specialists evaluate legal and technical issues. Joseph helps organize the person’s documented actions and practical plans.
Prepare the person beyond the professional title
Employment history, family responsibilities, treatment, education and other relevant circumstances require accurate documentation. Professional standing should not be presented as a substitute for accountability or proof of an expected result.
SAG can deliver an individual chronology, personal-record index and preparation schedule alongside counsel. For tax matters, connect the role record to identified entities and periods; for technology matters, distinguish platform history from the individual’s responsibilities.

Does an executive title show responsibility for every company transaction?
No. Preparation should document actual responsibilities and available evidence. Counsel assesses the legal implications.
Discuss a defined preparation assignment
Retain qualified federal defense counsel first for an investigation or criminal charge. Agree on the scope, records, authorized recipients and review dates before SAG’s work begins. Counsel retains legal advice, strategy and submissions. SAG can deliver an indexed personal record, a chronology, a factual gap list and an agreed preparation schedule.
SAG serves clients nationwide from Freehold, New Jersey, with travel arranged for cases. Tell Joseph your current stage and next deadline. Do not send case documents or sensitive allegations through the initial website form.
