National advisory service

Joseph De Gregorio joined the Petey Greene Program’s National Advisory Board in 2023 at the request of the organization’s president. His service reflects a sustained commitment to the educational opportunities available to people during incarceration and after their return to the community.

For Joseph, education is central to the work of rebuilding a life: developing the knowledge, discipline and confidence to pursue a different future. This advisory role sits alongside his work as Founder and President of Sentencing Advocacy Group and his broader involvement in teaching and reentry-focused leadership.

About the program

Founded in 2008 and based in Princeton, New Jersey, the Petey Greene Program supports incarcerated and formerly incarcerated learners through tutoring, college readiness and other educational programs. Its work helps learners prepare for academic progress while also educating volunteers and the public about the criminal legal system.

The organization works with correctional facilities and reentry programs to expand access to learning. Its mission brings together educational preparation, human connection and the possibility of continued achievement.
