Bringing professional experience into the study of crime, accountability and the people affected by harm.

Joseph De Gregorio · Visiting Lecturer in CriminologySeptember 2025–present

In the criminology classroom

Since September 2025, Joseph De Gregorio has served as a visiting lecturer in criminology at Montclair State University, speaking in Professor De Souza’s class.

His contribution connects academic inquiry with the perspective he brings to federal sentencing strategy, personal accountability and rebuilding after incarceration. Classroom engagement provides a setting for students to consider the human consequences of criminal conduct alongside the institutions that respond to it.

Victimology curriculum development

In addition to his visiting lectures, Joseph developed a full victimology course curriculum for the university. This contribution extends his involvement beyond individual classroom appearances into the development of educational material.

Victimology places the experiences of people harmed by crime within the study of justice. Its relevance to Joseph’s work is direct: meaningful accountability requires attention to the harm caused and to the people whose lives were affected.

The academic setting

Montclair State University’s Sociology, Criminology and Justice Studies Department examines human behavior, social institutions, crime, law and systems of justice. Its interdisciplinary approach connects the study of justice with research, public policy and social change.
