Establish the current stage

Keep the charging document, court dates and confirmed release conditions in the legal team’s designated system. Retain qualified federal defense counsel. Record the next deadline and the person responsible for each task. A charge is an allegation, and a preparation plan should not assume a guilty plea, conviction or particular outcome.

Create distinct workstreams

Separate legal defense, business operations, professional restrictions and personal preparation. Identify who can authorize action in each area. A practice owner may need business or licensing advice as well as criminal defense. Do not assume the same professional handles every question, and do not send the entire file to every participant.

Start the personal-history inventory

List employment, education, family responsibilities, health history and other records within the agreed scope. Preserve dates and sources. Avoid drafting a comprehensive offense narrative independently of counsel’s guidance. Personal preparation can begin with a chronology and record inventory while legal decisions remain unresolved.

Keep ongoing conduct accurately documented

Record actual employment, treatment, education and corrective work with contemporaneous support. A certificate shows completion of a particular course; it does not establish every claimed behavioral change. Describe progress proportionately and include setbacks or unresolved issues that counsel needs to understand.

Prepare for the next transition

If a plea or conviction occurs, confirm the presentence interview timeline with counsel and identify missing records. If the case remains contested, keep the preparation assignment aligned with the current posture. A practical family plan can address bills, dependent care and authorized business administration without predicting imprisonment.

Should I wait until sentencing is scheduled to organize my history?

You can begin collecting accurate personal records within an agreed scope earlier. Coordinate any narrative about alleged conduct and decisions about submissions with counsel.

Sources and professional scope

Official context: HHS OIG’s overview of healthcare fraud and abuse authorities. Its overview is educational and includes historical penalty figures; consult current authorities with counsel. U.S. Sentencing Commission guidelines resources support counsel’s sentencing review. Sources checked November 6, 2026.

SAG provides personal and professional chronology, source indexing, interview preparation and practical planning within a written scope. Retain qualified federal defense counsel for investigation-stage legal decisions. SAG is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, clinical opinions or forensic accounting. An engagement does not automatically establish privilege.
