Start with the documents actually provided
The IRS describes search warrants as a method of collecting evidence during criminal investigations. A search is not a conviction. Retain the warrant, attachments, property receipt and other materials actually provided, without assuming that the packet contains every document associated with the investigation.
Identify missing pages or unreadable copies for counsel. Record the place searched, date, approximate duration and agencies identified. Do not turn an incomplete inventory into a definitive claim about everything investigators took or examined.
Maintain a property and access register
Create a working register with the item description used on the receipt, the business or personal custodian, the system or account involved and the available identifying information. Keep the government’s wording separate from your own description. Ask counsel to resolve discrepancies.
A seized computer, copied server and unavailable login create different practical issues. Record what you know about access without attempting to alter, erase, remotely wipe or interfere with evidence. Technical specialists should operate within counsel’s directions and the applicable legal requirements.
Document operational impact separately
A business may need to address payroll, customer commitments or access to ordinary records. Maintain a separate list of essential functions, responsible personnel and deadlines. This helps counsel and appropriate advisers assess lawful ways to address continuity without confusing business needs with the evidence record.
Do not assume that creating a replacement record is equivalent to recovering the original. Label reconstructions, identify the underlying source and preserve the date they were made. Avoid statements that imply a reconstructed ledger existed before the search.
Build a reliable personal timeline
A person may remember a search differently after several conversations. Preserve the first account and clearly date later corrections. Distinguish direct observation, information from another person and uncertain recollection. Counsel decides how the account should be created and shared.
SAG can organize the authorized chronology and personal-history materials, identify factual gaps and maintain a preparation schedule. Joseph does not determine whether a search was lawful, negotiate return of property or provide evidence-handling instructions.
Connect the search to the broader preparation record
The warrant event is one part of a longer chronology. Earlier notices, changes of accountant, relevant tax periods and actual job responsibilities may help counsel understand the sequence. Do not infer the scope of all potential charges from one seized item.
When appropriate, a separate personal record can document family responsibilities, employment, treatment and completed corrective work. Keep legal arguments, accounting opinions and personal preparation clearly assigned to the professionals responsible for them.

Can SAG challenge a search warrant?
No. Search validity, evidence issues and property-return requests are legal matters for defense counsel. SAG’s role is agreed factual and personal preparation.
A defined engagement with Joseph De Gregorio
Retain qualified federal defense counsel first for an investigation or criminal charge. Agree on the scope, records, authorized recipients and review dates before SAG’s work begins. Counsel retains legal advice, strategy and submissions. SAG can deliver an indexed personal record, a chronology, a factual gap list and an agreed preparation schedule. An engagement does not automatically make every communication privileged; counsel determines the appropriate arrangements.
SAG serves clients nationwide from Freehold, New Jersey, with travel arranged for cases. Tell Joseph your current stage and next deadline. Do not send case documents or sensitive allegations through the initial website form.
