Use the actual charging documents
Keep the complaint or indictment and court notices together with their dates. Counsel explains the allegations and legal options. Do not use a press release as a substitute for the filed document or assume that every allegation has been established. Prepare a factual list of entities, periods and events requiring clarification rather than drafting your own legal response.
Create one reliable deadline calendar
Track court dates, counsel’s review dates and any confirmed reporting obligations. Identify the source for each deadline and who is responsible for the task. A preparation schedule must fit the actual case; a generic online timeline cannot establish when your next step will occur. Record changes as they are confirmed.
Organize the person’s history early
Collect accurate employment, education, family and treatment records within counsel’s agreed scope. A later presentence process is easier to prepare for when source records are available and dates have been reconciled. Early organization does not require predicting a plea or trial outcome. Keep sensitive information in an approved secure workflow.
Plan around confirmed restrictions
Practical planning may address lawful employment, caregiving, business continuity and household expenses. Distinguish current court conditions from possibilities. Counsel must address requests to change conditions and questions about communication with others. SAG can coordinate preparation tasks and supporting materials without taking over legal representation.
Continue your preparation
Should preparation wait until sentencing is scheduled?
Source organization can begin within a defined scope before then. Counsel should guide how the work fits the current stage and legal strategy.
Sources and a defined preparation assignment
Official context: Department of Justice: Justice 101. Sources checked November 6, 2026. Program resources and historical oversight reports do not decide an individual case. Counsel evaluates the applicable law, dates and facts.
Work directly with Joseph to define the scope, authorized recipients and review dates. Agreed deliverables can include a personal and professional chronology, indexed supporting records, factual questions for counsel and a practical preparation schedule. SAG does not manage legal responses or provide forensic accounting. An engagement does not automatically establish privilege.
SAG serves clients nationwide from New Jersey, with travel arranged for cases. SAG is not a law firm. No charging decision, sentence, placement or release date is guaranteed.
