Insurance Inquiry, Coverage Dispute or Criminal Investigation?

Identify the sender and stated purpose
Record whether the communication comes from an insurer, its investigator, a regulator or a law-enforcement agency. Preserve the actual wording. Similar questions can arise in different processes. Do not assume that a private inquiry carries the same authority or consequences as a government demand.
Keep separate calendars and files
Track each proceeding’s documents and confirmed deadlines separately, with cross-references where facts overlap. A coverage decision and a criminal filing are not the same event. Counsel determines how the processes interact. The working record should prevent a response prepared for one purpose from being casually reused for another.
Avoid legal conclusions from labels
Words such as review, investigation or fraud may appear in correspondence without resolving the person’s legal status. Ask counsel to assess the actual documents. SAG can organize the chronology and factual sources, but does not advise whether an interview, statement or production is required.
Coordinate factual consistency
The same event may appear in an application, claim form, interview and later narrative. Identify differences for counsel’s review without changing originals. A preparation summary should show the source and date of each account. Consistency comes from accurate review, not from rewriting the historical record.

Can one response be reused across every proceeding?
Do not assume so. Counsel should review the purpose, recipient and legal context before any response is made.
Sources and professional scope
Official background: FBI: Investigating Insurance Fraud and NAIC: Insurance Fraud. Sources checked November 6, 2026. These sources provide general context; counsel evaluates the actual jurisdiction, charge and applicable law. No historical statistics are used to predict an individual outcome.
A defined SAG assignment can include a personal chronology, indexed records, factual questions and preparation calendar. Counsel controls legal advice, responses and submissions. SAG is not a law firm, insurance adjuster, valuation provider or forensic accounting service. An engagement does not automatically establish privilege.
Based in New Jersey, SAG serves clients nationwide, with travel arranged for cases. No sentence, placement, release date or financial result is guaranteed.
For counsel: Discuss Support for Your Client. Begin with the role, stage and deadline; do not send account credentials or privileged advice through the inquiry form.
