Identify the complete communication

Record the platform, participants, date and available attachments. Preserve a source copy within counsel’s instructions. A forwarded message, screenshot and full export may contain different information. Do not represent one cropped image as a complete conversation when surrounding context is unavailable.

Connect instructions to events carefully

A message requesting a transfer does not itself establish that it was executed. Link the instruction to the corresponding financial record if the evidence supports the connection. Preserve mismatches in dates, amounts or recipients for review. Do not force uncertain relationships into a tidy chronology.

Separate interpretation from quotation

Use exact source references for important language and label your own explanation as a recollection or interpretation. Counsel evaluates meaning in context. Avoid rewriting a message in a way that changes its certainty, timing or audience. Keep translations and their preparers identifiable where another language is involved.

Maintain lawful access boundaries

Counsel should direct preservation and collection from personal, employer and third-party systems. Do not access accounts beyond your authority or contact others to align accounts of events. SAG can organize a source index and questions while counsel determines how relevant evidence should be obtained and used.

Continue your preparation

Should a summary replace the original messages?

No. Keep the underlying source available and label the summary so reviewers can inspect the context.

Sources and a defined preparation assignment

Official context: U.S. Code: 18 U.S.C. § 1956. Sources checked November 6, 2026. Counsel evaluates the law and the manual applicable to the individual facts and dates. These preparation steps do not determine criminal liability or a sentencing calculation.

Work directly with Joseph to define deliverables, authorized recipients and review dates. An assignment may include a personal and professional chronology, source index, factual review questions and practical preparation calendar. SAG is not a law firm or forensic accounting provider. An engagement does not automatically establish privilege.
