Identify the actual proposed obligation

Keep the proposed order, agreement or demand with its schedules. Record who is identified as a claimant, the amount and the source of the calculation. Counsel determines whether restitution applies and under what authority. A general financial allegation does not establish every legal obligation.

Document payments and recoveries precisely

Preserve receipts, dates, recipients and any accompanying terms. Distinguish a payment made, a payment proposed and a credit actually recognized in a relevant document. Do not promise that every recovery or business repayment will automatically reduce an obligation. Counsel evaluates the proper treatment.

Prepare accurate financial information

Organize income, assets, liabilities and expenses within the requested scope. Identify uncertain figures and supporting records. A practical payment discussion should not rely on optimistic assumptions about employment, asset availability or future earnings. SAG can help make the personal financial record consistent and inspectable.

Use published analysis as a preparation prompt

Joseph’s Bloomberg Law restitution analysis points to the importance of reviewing financial assumptions before consequential decisions. Use the original publication pathway in the sidebar to inspect that work. The article title is not a promise of savings. Counsel controls legal positions and submissions, and SAG’s assignment remains record organization and preparation.

Continue your preparation

Does a repayment receipt prove the final restitution balance?

Not necessarily. Preserve it and the governing documents so counsel can assess whether and how it is credited.

Sources and a defined preparation assignment
