Start with the document
Preserve the proposal, order or agreement with its attachments and date. Identify the named person or entity, amount and status. A civil demand, sentencing proposal and final order should not be described as the same obligation.
Keep financial theories separate
Record what each schedule claims to measure and the source of its inputs. Restitution, forfeiture, fines and contract remedies require distinct legal analysis. Counsel determines applicability and interaction rather than the preparation narrative assuming they cancel one another.
Document completed payments
Keep receipts, recipients, dates and governing terms. Distinguish a proposed repayment from a completed transfer and a claimed credit from one recognized in the relevant record. Financial professionals and counsel assess treatment.
Organize the personal financial record
Prepare requested income, assets, liabilities and expenses accurately. Identify restrictions and uncertainty. SAG can help organize supporting information and review dates without negotiating obligations or promising savings.
