Identify the governing status

Keep the demand, proposal, agreement or order and its attachments. Record the named parties, dates and amounts. A claimed loss and an entered restitution order should not be described as equivalent.

Preserve supporting schedules

Index the sources behind each figure and identify disputed assumptions. Separate calculations prepared by different participants. Counsel and financial specialists determine the appropriate legal treatment and any need for additional review.

Track actual payments

Keep receipts, dates and recipients. Distinguish recognized credits from requested credits and repayment intentions from completed acts. Do not assume that a payment resolves forfeiture, fines, civil exposure or every other obligation.

Prepare accurate disclosure sources

Organize requested income, assets, liabilities and expenses with supporting records. Identify uncertainty and restrictions. SAG can help make the file reviewable without deciding legal obligations, negotiating payment terms or promising financial savings.

Sources and professional scope

Official starting points: United States Sentencing Commission economic-offense guidelines. Counsel evaluates current authorities, the applicable guideline version and the individual facts. These resources do not decide the outcome of a particular case. Sources checked November 6, 2026.
