Identify the actual case and stage
An employer inquiry, civil dispute and criminal prosecution are different processes. Preserve the actual notices and confirmed dates. Counsel determines the allegations, jurisdiction and applicable law. SAG supports individual preparation; it does not classify a transaction as embezzlement or advise on how to respond to investigators.
Separate access, authority and conduct
Financial access can be shared across employees, managers and outside service providers. A title or system permission does not explain every action. Build a dated account of actual duties, approvals, transactions and information available at the time. Keep personal recollection distinct from contemporaneous source documents and identify unresolved gaps.
Organize the financial record
A defined assignment may include a source index, transaction chronology and questions for counsel. Preserve original statements, ledgers, approvals and payment records. Financial specialists assess tracing and reconciliation. SAG does not certify loss calculations, determine ownership or decide how repayments affect a legal obligation.
Prepare the broader personal history
After a plea or conviction, verified education, employment, family responsibilities, treatment, character support and practical plans may become preparation priorities. The biography should remain consistent with the established case record. Counsel reviews legal positions and submissions; probation prepares the official presentence report.
Use published work as a preparation resource
Joseph’s Bloomberg Law financial-preparation analysis connects to questions about source records and restitution figures. His PSR work addresses the importance of a clear, documented personal account. The publication column provides inspectable links and distinguishes authored work, editorial service and appearances without suggesting institutional endorsement.
Agree on deliverables and review points
Begin with the person’s role, stage and deadline. Define the chronology, source index, factual questions and practical calendar to be prepared. SAG serves clients nationwide from New Jersey, with travel arranged for cases. No charging decision, sentence, financial outcome or release date is guaranteed.

Sources and professional scope
Official starting points: United States Sentencing Commission economic-offense guidelines. Counsel evaluates current authorities, the applicable guideline version and the individual facts. These resources do not decide the outcome of a particular case. Sources checked November 6, 2026.
SAG provides defined personal and professional preparation: a chronology, source index, factual review questions and practical calendar as agreed. Counsel controls legal advice, responses and submissions. SAG is not a law firm, forensic accounting provider or compliance certifier. An engagement does not automatically establish privilege.
Based in New Jersey, SAG serves clients nationwide, with travel arranged for cases. No charging decision, sentence, financial result, placement or release date is guaranteed.
For counsel: Discuss Support for Your Client. Begin with the role, stage and deadline, not privileged advice or credentials, in the inquiry form.
