Identify the payroll period and system
Preserve relevant registers, source exports and supporting records within counsel’s instructions. Identify the entity and dates. Distinguish gross pay, withholding, employer costs and net payment rather than treating them as one measure.
Preserve authorization and changes
Keep hiring, compensation, banking-change and approval records where lawfully available. Record who prepared, reviewed and implemented changes. System access does not by itself establish the actor for every entry.
Connect entries to payments
Index available bank records and reversals with stable references. Identify unmatched items without assuming their explanation. Qualified payroll or financial reviewers may be required to reconcile the sources.
Protect unrelated personal information
Payroll records can contain sensitive information about others. Counsel should direct collection and sharing. SAG organizes the relevant chronology and questions within the agreed scope; it does not perform a payroll audit or determine criminal liability.
