Separate the business story from personal actions

A company’s growth, financing and public profile provide context but do not fully explain an individual’s decisions. Build a chronology of what you personally authorized, communicated and learned. Identify changes in duties and access. Keep personal recollection distinct from statements prepared by others about the company.

Preserve versions of external communications

Locate relevant presentations, forecasts, updates and correspondence with dates and source references. Identify which version was actually distributed and who reviewed it. Do not substitute a later corrected presentation for the historical one. Counsel evaluates statements, context and applicable legal standards.

Document delegation and oversight

Record the scope of delegated work, information supplied and review performed. Neither a claim of reliance nor a leadership title is a complete factual account. Preserve engagement records, reporting structures and communications that help explain the sequence. Identify gaps without manufacturing a retrospective approval process.

Prepare for practical consequences

Business continuity, family responsibilities and lawful future work may require planning. Distinguish approved arrangements from proposals and confirmed restrictions from concerns. SAG can coordinate the professional-history file and practical preparation with counsel. The work should be accurate and useful even when the business narrative is complex or public attention is intense.

Continue your preparation

Should I use the company biography as my personal account?

Use it only as context and verify its claims. Your preparation needs a separate chronology of your own actions, knowledge and responsibilities.
